"Zeki Demirtaşoğlu, President of the Association of Mill and Industrial Machinery Manufacturers (DESMÜD), stated that despite the pandemic, the machinery sector managed to exceed its monthly export capacity to over $1.6 billion in September, reaching $11.9 billion in exports.

President Demirtaşoğlu commented on the state of the machinery sector's exports amidst the global pandemic. He mentioned that while the pandemic, which began in March in our country, negatively affected life and also caused some economic difficulties, our association, which produces machinery and exports domestically produced national machines worldwide, did not adopt a pessimistic attitude during this period and continued its production. He emphasized that this attitude led to companies in our country coming together.

Looking at today, even though the machinery industry has experienced a contraction in highly developed countries, our developing country did not experience this contraction much in the machinery industry; on the contrary, it increased its exports for the second time despite the pandemic. This is a pleasing development for both us industrialists and our country.

Continuing his statement by saying that developing countries tend to hold more inventory while producing, DESMÜD President Zeki Demirtaşoğlu stated, "Our sector has experienced a significant recovery, which we can see through export rates. Of course, as a country, we experienced a contraction in the machinery industry compared to previous years. However, compared to other developing countries, Turkey followed a course under this contraction. The coming winter will be a bit challenging for us machinery manufacturers, but we have taken the necessary precautions for this. With the support of our government, we aim to come out of this process in the best way possible and add value to our country."
